Kurt Gottschalk doesn't have a favorite Derek Bailey album, but he does have a favorite Chuck Berry song.All of which put Drake in the position of being an in-demand sideman without time for his own projects. And while Bindu would seem to mark a change in emphasis for him, it doesn't mean he's any less occupied. Besides near constant touring, Drake is working on a Mandingo Griot Society reunion this August in Chicago and bringing Anderson into a new world, pulling together a band that will include Josh Abrams, Jeff Parker and Harrison Bankhead as well as human beatboxer Napoleon Maddox.
With all the projects, Drake is still searching for more inspiration and more partnerships. He said he hopes to build collaborations in East Asia and other parts of the world and continue finding musicians who share his visions of artistic expression and fulfillment.
"My hope is that more and more artists will use their music and art to extend compassion to all beings so we can take fuller participation in awakening our greater potential as human potential."
