Ralph McKnight wrote on January 03, 2008 reportDuring the period that Cootie Williams had his own band, he hired a beautiful young jazz/r & b singer named Jean DuShon, from Detroit, Michigan. As as matter of fact, Jean was his star vocalist. While appearing at NY's Roundtable, she was "discovered" by Ahmet Ertegun, president of Atlantic Records, who signed her and turned her over to young producer, Phil Spector, shortly before his "wall of sound" days.
