What an astoundingly inadequate review of one of the most important jazz/poetry records in the history of the genre. To toss off Gysin's poetic permutations, brilliantly set to music, as "derivative Best spoken word"! And you managed to not even mention the sublime "Luvzya"! I suggest you sit in front of a Dream Machine for a few days and start over. I'm not even sure this review could be salvaged if it were reformulated via the cut-up method, but I'll give it a try.

"Beat spoken word"! I got so upset I wrote "Best," though it fits.

    Out of the words jaunt
    infectious giant primates
    to tell a social

    realist story
    of bright depressive yearnings.
    Derivative wail

    of love glissando
    ceases its operatic
    collaboration.

    Bouncy speech mimics
    rambunctious secret nonsense
    harmonizing on

    glittering lyrics.
    Dissonant, decaying lines
    tell mournful lament.

This album is a must for all the beat poetry lovers !
So great, the song Nowhere Street and Luvzya, just so good.
    I love it !
