I was sad to see that Jackie Ryan's "You and the Night and the Music" didn't make the reader poll results. Jackie is backed by the Jeff Hamilton Trio, Red Holloway and jazz harpist Carol Robbins on this CD, which hit #1 in the JazzWeek charts, then stayed in the top 10 for 15 weeks. Last week, it was #25 out of 100. This is no less than spectacular for a CD on a miniscule label. Obviously, it's getting lots of airplay. Are people not hearing it?
