As a member of the earlier generation of big band jazz composer /arrangers, I really like Darcy James music. Even though as a writer I'm pretty firmly rooted in the "tradition " as established by guys like Tiny Kahn, Al Cohn, Bill Holman , Billy Byers,Gerry Mulligan and the like,I really feel guys like Argue ( as well as Maria S and John Hollenbeck and others) are taking the tradition of the large jazz ensemble into valid new places and I'm anxious to see where he goes from here!
Bravo DGA! keep it coming!
