1. This is a great album. I've been talking about it on the AAJ forums (and elsewhere) for a bit now. I'm glad to see James get some well-deserved recognition on the main site.
2. While, yes, this album is free, more accurately, it's "name your own price". So, go ahead and download the album for free (or stream it first on the Bandcamp site), and if after a few listens you come to agree with me that this is excellent music, download the album again, but this time, name a price to throw some money the musician's way.
3. The final song, "Northern Land", is just plain beautiful. Surprised that of all the tunes on Causeway, that NL would get a negative response. This is clearly an example of a reviewer mistakenly not realizing that my opinion should be adopted as fact.
Overall, a good article, and I really like the theme of the series. Hopefully it'll get the spotlight centered on some talented unsigned jazz musicians/ensembles, who are also generously allowing us to hear their music regardless of economics.
