If I think about it for awhile, there are probably a plethora of epiphanic albums for me, but the first one that came to mind was Electric Bath by the Don Ellis Orchestra. I suddenly understood how dissonance can be beautiful. "Turkish Bath", especially, but Ellis' use of quartertones, too, broadened my sonic palette.
