Jack Gold Molina is a photojournalist, drummer, percussionist, and founder of the Sol Disk free jazz/outside music label.

As well as being a photojournalist, I am also a drummer and percussionist. I have a performance history dating back to about 1980 when I was performing with blues/rock group The Opening and avant-rock group Quantum. I have also studied African music and performed with African music groups and folk music groups as well as with hard rock groups Power Source and Axcraft.

Currently I am the producer and bandleader of free improvised jazz group the Acoustic Reign Project. The self-titled debut cd, engineered by Heart's Roger Fisher who performs on guitar, was released in February 2003. The musicians on this album also include trumpeter Jim Knodle, saxophonist Brian Kent, and acoustic bassist Reuben Radding.

My alternate group to the Acoustic Reign Project, the Jack Gold Quartet, has also released a CD entitled “Daylight.” Free improvised jazz, music that coalesces via abstractions in style, “Daylight” features Michael Monhart playing saxophones, Jim Knodle playing trumpet, and Michael Bisio playing acoustic bass.

My most recent release, which I co-produced with guitarist/classical composer Chris Pugh, is entitled “Penumbra/Heqat.” The first part of the disk is free jazz, and the second part is an avant-garde classical piece performed by the award winning German string group Trio Recherche. From the press release: “As much as this music urges toward anarchy, delivering like a bone crushing knee attack in defense against a beating on a dark street, it is also subtle in its nuances, transcendant in its consonance and its dissonance. This is music that breaks boundaries and advances the art of improvisation.”

I am the founder of Sol Disk, the outside music label on which “The Acoustic Reign Project,” “Daylight,” and “Penumbra/Heqat” were released. Through Sol Disk, I have produced or co-produced CDs by such artists as Daniel Carter, Wally Shoup, Bill Horist, and Gregg Keplinger.
