Ryan Burns is a keyboard player, jazz educator from Seattle, WA.
I live in Seattle, Wa, and play keyboards. I own and operate Burien School of Music, and was schooled myself at Berklee College of Music in Boston. I write the column Listen To This! for AAJ, which is a cross between a musician-to-musician interview and a blindfold test. Inspired by Art Taylor's book Notes and Tones, the column represents the majority of the writing I do for AAJ.
Some past and present projects I've been involved with include Harrybu McCage, Matt Jorgenson +451, Tom Marriott's Willie Nelson Project, and Bebop and Destruction.
I've released 5 CD's as a composer/bandleader, most recently Ryan Burns Quartet- London Bridge Live (Odd Bird Records 2012), and the electric Ryan Burns- Birds (Odd Bird Records 2010). I enjoy the classic piano trio, but I also love playing keyboards, especially analog.
