Joshua Weiner enjoys his day job as biology professor at a Big Ten University, but wishes it left more time (and money) for music.
I was raised in Milwaukee, went to college at Northwestern, got a Ph.D. in Neurobiology at UC-San Diego, worked as a postdoctoral scientist at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, and am now Assistant Professor in the Dept. of Biology at the University of Iowa. Which, they tell me, is a real job, finally.
I am a proud alumnus of ~15 garage rock bands and now write, perform (drums, guitars, bass, keys, vocals), and record my own Beatlesque indie rock in my basement studio with my (long-distance) collaborator Rob L. We released our first album as The Poor Richards in 2006, and a 5- song EP (When I Can) in 2007. Both are available via iTunes or CD Baby, if you're interested, and you can sample on MySpace. I have too many guitars and records and a very lovely and understanding wife, along with 3 beautiful young children.
