CD/LP/Track Review
Giovanni Tommaso Quintet: Secondo Tempo (2001)
Giovanni Tommaso won the 2001-2002 Jazziz Critic's Picks with La Dolce Vita and such a recognition led to the "Second Part," as the title means, under review here. Even so, this is no haphazardly produced or executed sequel.
Secondo Tempo is Italian cinematic soundtracks, of varying fame, reinterpreted within the jazz tenor range of a sax, 'bone and traditional rhythm section, using attention-grabbing arrangements performed at a superior level by experienced musicians.
Everyone, given the present talent, surpasses expectations through intangible musical algorithms that redirect themselves à la multidirectional creature from Ezequiel's vision. One should appreciate such a deciding jazz offering with emotive maturity and burgeoning intellect.
